Stampin' Up! Climbing Orchid - SBTD 04/2018

Hello and welcome to another Stampers by the Dozen blog hop!  Whether you have hopped over from Judi and her fabulous project or you are starting here with me, welcome - I hope you enjoy my projects.

The theme this month is 'bundles' and was chosen by Carly.  Wow - this was a difficult one as there are so many fabulous bundles available from Stampin' Up!  I sat looking at my shelves of stamps wondering which to choose and then I saw a stamp set I had forgotten I owned - shame on me (again)!

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, #lovemyjob, Climbing Orchid, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

There are 28 images in the Climbing Orchid stamp set to allow you to build up orchids with as many layers as you like - just think of all the colour combinations ...

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, #lovemyjob, Climbing Orchid, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I started playing with different ink colours, just stamping and die cutting, trying out different combinations.  These were the first flowers that I assembled.  The photo below shows that I tried two different methods of adding dimension to the different layers.

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, #lovemyjob, Climbing Orchid, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

For the flower on the left I used a scoring tool (also known as a ball tool) around the edges of each petal on the reverse.  I used Dimensionals between the different layers.

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, #lovemyjob, Climbing Orchid, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

The ball tool 'bends' the card adding a little depth and dimension.  How much 'bend' depends on how hard you press down and how far into the shape you do this.  (I just went around the edges).

For the subsequent flowers I used my pokey tool to curl and shape each petal - this method creates a lot more dimension and again, used Dimensionals between the layers.

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, #lovemyjob, Climbing Orchid, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

In a short time I had a pile of these lovely flowers sitting on my desk so I thought I had better do something with them!

I used the Petal Burst TIEF to create a simple background for my card - love this folder (so pleased it will be staying with us for another year).

I chose my favourite flower and added some leaves and some tiny buds.

Although there are several branch stamps in the Climbing Orchid stamp set, I used the branch thinlit that can be found in the Seasonal Layer Thinlits.

I stamped a smaller, sinlge flower on the inside of the card (and the envelope) this time using the branch stamps!

Here is the completed card and envelope.  I decided that I prefered the flower that had been curled with the poky tool.

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, #lovemyjob, Climbing Orchid, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I then went on to make another card, this time using a flower that had been shaped by a ball tool.  I also used one the sentiments in the stamp set - how I wish my handwriting looked like this!

Here are both cards together ...

... and do you know what?  I think I prefer the card on the right; one day I will learn to be decisive but, not today unfortunately!

Details of the products I used for this project can be found below.  The Climbing Orchid Bundle (= a 10% saving) is only available until the end of May (while stocks last).  The stamps and the dies will be in the upcomig Annual Catalogue but will no longer available as a bundle.

Next on the hop is Tricia who I'm sure has something fabulous to share with you too.  Don't forget to leave comments as you hop around (we like that).

Thanks for hopping along with us again, you can find details of the products I used for this project at the end of the post.

Stampin' Up! Coffee Cafe - stepped up

Hello, here are the details of our second project this week using the Coffee Cafe bundle - love a bundle and the 10% saving!  This particular bundle and the DSP are about to retire although the stamps and the Framelits will be available separately in the upcoming Annual Catalogue.  At the time of my writing this post the bundle and the DSP (which will retire) are still available ... just saying!

The inspiration for this card came from Elizabeth Hill Rush - her card was painted with coffee!

We used the Aqua Painters this week to add some colour to the coffee cup - love the effect with the ink on the Water Colour Paper, so effective.

Craftyduckydoodah!, Coffee Cafe, Coffee & Cards project April 2018, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, #stampinupuk, #lovemyjob, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

We also added some colour below the cup to 'ground' it.

Craftyduckydoodah!, Coffee Cafe, Coffee & Cards project April 2018, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, #stampinupuk, #lovemyjob, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I think the tiny coffee bean stamp is my favourite thing in the Coffee Cafe bundle!

I used one of the Corrugated Elements on my card with a tiny bow tied in my favourite Linen Thread.  I am so pleased the thread will be joining us in the upcoming Annual Catalgoue!

I placed an order for some more of these corrugated shapes but unfortunately my order did not arrive in time so I was short of a few hearts for C & C.

However, a solution was at hand in the form of the Sweet & Sassy Framelit Dies and some Crumb Cake card.

#lovemyjob, #stampinupuk, Coffee & Cards project April 2018, Coffee Cafe, Craftyduckydoodah!, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

The die above can be found in the Coffee Cups Framelits - it will cut and emboss to create a corrugated coffee sleeve - brilliant!

#lovemyjob, #stampinupuk, Coffee & Cards project April 2018, Coffee Cafe, Craftyduckydoodah!, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

The heart on the left is my version - not too bad even if I do say so myself!

I used the tiny coffee bean stamp to decorate the inside of the card - I resisted the urge to stamp lots of beans but for the envelope I created a border along the edge.

Craftyduckydoodah!, Coffee Cafe, Coffee & Cards project April 2018, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, #stampinupuk, #lovemyjob, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Here is the completed card and envelope - did you spot the stamped border of coffee beans above the DSP?

I will post details of the projects for next week as soon as I have made them!

Stampin' Up! Coffee Cafe - quick & simple

Hello, here are the details for our first project this week using Coffee Cafe.

I am trying something a little different this week; I brought along a selection of papers, embellisments, cardstock and ink so that everyone can choose their favourite combinations.

Craftyduckydoodah!, Coffee Cafe, #stampinupuk, #lovemyjob, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Coffee & Cards project April 2018, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

The Coffee Break DSP has a sheet of tiny motifs that are perfect for a spot of fussy cutting.  Even better, there is a tiny die that will cut out the takeaway coffee cup!

I drink a lot of coffee each week as I am crafting in various locations and the sentiments in Coffee Cafe are right up my street!  Most of us know a coffee lover too so these sentiments will be very useful.

Stampin' Up! Coffee Cafe - Stamp N Hop #3

Hello, welcome to the third Stamp N Hop - we are a group of Demonstrators around the world sharing out love of all things Stampin' Up!  This month our theme is 'Annual Catty Favourite'. Whether you are starting here with me or following on from Linda, welcome - why not grab a coffee and hop along with us...

Boy was this a hard decision for me to decide my favourite stamp set from the Annual Catalogue!

Whilst I was at On Stage last weekend one of my lovely team mates (Lyn) gave me a little treat.  I realised that I had not used Coffee Cafe very much ...

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, Coffee Cafe, Stamp 'N Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I spend a large part of my week in coffee shops, what with my thrice weekly Coffee & Cards sessions and catching up with friends etc so I guess I drink a lot of coffee!

As I was working on my project I received a phone call confirming that my house sale was going through and I now have a moving date - yipeee!

So, I thought I would make something for myself, for my new craft room.  These are the colours I used for my project - taken from the Coffee Break DSP.

I love the sentimnent ... so true don't you think?

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, Coffee Cafe, Stamp 'N Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

The little coffee beans are really cute and the good news is there is a die to cut them out!

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, Coffee Cafe, Stamp 'N Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

There is even a die to create an embossed cup sleeve for a realistic looking cup - SU are brilliant at these little details that make all the difference to a project!

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, Coffee Cafe, Stamp 'N Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I can't for the life of me think what the little Soft Sky heart shape is - does it stop the coffee from spilling or is it a stirrer perhaps?  If you do know the answer, please tell me!

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, Coffee Cafe, Stamp 'N Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Here is my completed panel.  At this point I could have used it for a card but I had something else in mind.

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, Coffee Cafe, Stamp 'N Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I added a mount ...

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, Coffee Cafe, Stamp 'N Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

... and placed inside a RIBA frame from IKEA.  Apologies for the photo, these frames are really difficult to photograph.

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, Coffee Cafe, Stamp 'N Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Then I had an idea, can you guess?

Yep, coffee beans and, they smell lovely too!!

Here is the finished frame complete with beans.

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, Coffee Cafe, Stamp 'N Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I must have been on a bit of a coffee high when I finished the frame as I had another idea - a coffee coaster.

All I can say is that it was an epic fail!  I need to source a brown Stazon ink pad I think ... Amazon here I come.

Craftyduckydoodah!, #stampinupuk, Coffee Cafe, Stamp 'N Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

At the time of writing this post, the bundle is still available with a 10% saving and so is the DSP.  The stamps and the Framelits will be in the new Catalogue (launching June) but not as a bundle.  So, now would be a good time to get them as a bundle and save 10%!

Thank you so much  for joining us on our third hop - click the 'Next' button below to head on over to see what Laurie has been doing.  If you get lost along the way, a list of hop participants can be found below.

You can find details of the products I used for this project below, if you have any questions, please get in touch - I am always happy to help.

Don't forget to leave comments  - we would all love to know what you think of our projects.

Happy Crafting!
