Stampin' Up! A Little Wild - quick & simple

Hello, here are the details for our first project this week.  These stamps are seriously cute - they create the front and the back of each animal and then you can die cut to create tags - complete with a hole for your ribbon or thread - genius idea!

We started by adhering our piece of DSP to the front of the notecard being careful not to add any adhesive in the centre.  This would make it slightly difficult to die cut the framelit.

We used the Stitched Shape Framelits Dies to create an aperture for the front of the card - the resulting circle of DSP is then placed back where it came from and adhered to the inside of the card.  The extra die cut circle from the note card is an added bonus which my crafty ladies took home with them!

After stamping the elephant I coloured him with a Pro Marker.  We then had to do some careful cutting around the head, ears and trunk of the elephant front before adhering to the front of the opening.

Can you guess what I did with the back of the elephant?

Yep, I stuck him on the other side and stamped some grass so he did not look like he was floating in mid air!

I got the idea from a card kit I bought many years ago, (probably from QVC) that had the cutest front and back images of animals peeking through apertures so I thought I would give it a try!

Here is the completed card and envelope.

I used sentiments from Happy Birthday Gorgeous - unfortunately I fear I will be using the 'belated' stamp rather a lot as I am absolutely terrible at birthdays!

If you would like to join me to make one of these cards and another project using this delightful bundle, I have further Coffee & Card sessions on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons this week. You can find the details here.

I will post details of the second Coffee & Cards project later this week so be sure to pop back soon.

You can find the products I used for this project below along with details of how you can receive a free gift from me.

Hope you can join me for a crafty coffee soon!

Stampin' Up! Daisy Delight - Happy 80th Birthday!

Hello, one of my lovely crafty ladies was celebrating her 80th birthday this weekend and I was lucky enough to be invited to her party.

Of course I had to make a special card for such a special lady!

I have been wanting to have a go at making a Double Z Fold Card for some time so I did a quick search on Pinterest and found a simple tutorial.  If you ever need to know how to make a particular style of card, Pinterest is brilliant!

I decided to use some of the gorgeous Delightful Daisy DSP as a background.  I chose the ink colours from the details on the back of the packet ...

I made the base from Night of Navy and Whisper White cardstock.  I decorated a panel for the front of the card using the stamps from Daisy Delight - there are some really useful background builder stamps in this set that are easy to overlook because the large daisy stamp (and the punch) are amazing!  After stamping the stems there are little stamps that line up perfectly so that you can stamp the flower heads - SU are brilliant at this sort of thing!

Once I had got my head around the mechanism of the card it was easy, looking down at the card you can see where its name came from!

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Daisy Delight, Happy Celebrations, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I also stamped two smaller panels to decorate the folding mechanism and then I decided to stamp another panel and use it to die cut an eight and a zero.  I stuck them to the panels using the new Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  Have you seen them yet?  They are much smaller than the usual Dimensionals and just the right size for this project.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Daisy Delight, Happy Celebrations, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I then realised that I had nowhere to write my message - so I quickly stamped another panel for the reverse of the card.

Here is the completed card and envelope.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Daisy Delight, Happy Celebrations, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

We had a lovely time at the party, I was amazed to find that so many of the guests had crafting in common.

When we arrived we were asked to make a fingerprint leaf on a tree that had been drawn by Poppy as a memento for Jean.

I have to say it is such a lovely idea and I was very pleased to add my leaf in Pistachio Pudding ink - I loved that colour and was so sad when it retired!

I know that Jean will have opened her cards by now even though it is not her birthday until tomorrow!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your birthday weekend Jean, here's to many more years of crafting!

Stampin' Up! Fabulous Flamingo for #JOS001 Challenge – The Letter “F”

Hello, just a really quick post from me today showing how you can take your card making to the next level.

I really enjoyed using Fabulous Flamingo this week so when I need a special card for one of my ducklings who celebrated her birthday this week ...

The card is virtually the same as the stepped up project we did for Coffee & Cards but with a few tweaks!

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Fabulous Flamingo, Joy of Sets Challenge, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I used Tranquil Tide for the grasses at the bottom of the card and used some second generation stamping to add depth and an additional colour.

I raised the left hand side of the sandbank with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Fabulous Flamingo, Joy of Sets Challenge, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I also used Dimensionals on the head, neck and body of my flamingo and then tucked the legs behind the sandbank.

I raised the entire panel with Dimensionals too - what would we do without them?

Here is the completed card and envelope.

As a finishing touch, I added a googly eye!  I've had these eyes in my crafty stash for so long that they are now slightly discoloured but I don't think it matters in this instance.

I am pleased to report Karen received her card and, she had a lovely birthday too!

Another of my team members Bev is on the Design Team for a Challenge Blog called The Joy of Sets.  July is the very first challenge - the brief is to use a set with the letter F - so as in this instance, Fabulous Flamingo.

Anyone can take part whether you are a Demo or you are an SU addict - I come into both categories so I thought I would enter this first challenge.

If you pop over the the Joy of Sets Challenge Blog you will see lots of fabulous inspiration - don't forget to check out Bev's card using a stamp set call Floral Phrases - it is stunning.  I'm sure that the Design Team would love you to leave a comment too.

Details of the products I used to create this card can be found below.

Hope you have a crafty weekend.

Stampin' Up! A Little Wild for Coffee & Cards

Hello, this week we will be using another new bundle called A Little Wild.  These clever stamps create the front and the back of these cute animals which you can cut out in seconds with the coordinating framelits dies.

Look at the gorgeous little gift tags you can create - they even have the hole for you to thread your ribbon through!

Stampin' Up! Fabulous Flamingo - stepped up

Hello, here are the details for our second project this week.  All my crafty ladies have had so much fun creating an entire flock of flamingos.

Our second project required a little more stamping and some creative tearing of card to create sandbanks.

We started with the insert - no point in making a beautiful card that has a background you can't write on so where necessary, I add a white panel.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Fabulous Flamingo, July2017 Coffee & Cards Project, Supplies available 24/7. from my online store,

We created a border around the edge of the base card using the splodges from Awesomely Artistic and Sahara Sand ink.  We also covered a small rectangle of Sahara Sand card with the same splodges; this was then torn to create something for our flamingo to stand on.

Top Tip:
Tear the card towards you if you want the added texture from the torn edges to show.

I love the colour combination we used for these cards - not sure what I did before the arrival of Lemon Lime Twist!

This fabulous stamp set makes it so easy to create coordinated inserts and envelopes - are you tempted by it yet?  I know some of my crafty ladies have now added it to their wish lists - sorry ladies!

I am going to a special birthday party at the weekend - one of my crafty ladies (Jean) is celebrating her birthday.  We had cake (with candles) at our Tuesday session too - who needs an excuse for cake?!?!  I will share the card I have made for her after the weekend ...

Thanks to everyone who has joined me for a crafty coffee this week.  Next week we will be using a fabulous bundle from the new catalogue called A Little Wild - details will follow shortly.  Its a great stamp set for the little people (or not so) in your life!

Stampin' Up! Fabulous Flamingo - Quick & Simple

Hello, here are the details of our first project for this week.  There are three stamps that you can use to create the flamingo and there are lots of options for creating these stunning birds in a variety of colours.  You don't even need to use all three stamps as you will see below!

I have seen some marvellous ideas on Pinterest for birds in all sort of styles and colours.  Did you know that Stampin' Up! have the most amazing Artisan Design Team?  They have regular blog hops to share ideas and inspiration and it was through such a hop that I came across a design by Paula Dobson that I loved - if you view my blog regularly, you will know I love white on white cards! Paula very kindly gave me permission to CASE (copy and selectively edit) her design. You can see her original project here.

I couldn't recall the name for a group of flamingos, so I googled it!

According to google, a group of flamingos can be called a stand, a flamboyance, a colony or a flock!

I think I prefer a flamboyance of flamingos but whatever you call them, they will be fabulous!

The image below was stamped with just two of the stamps - I deliberately off set the second image to add a little depth.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Fabulous Flamingo, July2017 Coffee & Cards Project, Supplies available 24/7. from my online store,

For this image I used all three stamps, adding in the additional detail with Calypso Coral ink.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Fabulous Flamingo, July2017 Coffee & Cards Project, Supplies available 24/7. from my online store,

If you wished, you could also add the detail using Memento black ink but I thought this looked quite harsh on a mostly white card.  What do you think?  I would love you to leave a comment below ...

I offered a choice this morning for Coffee & Cards - all the ladies chose the option using the Calypso Coral ink!  I (as usual), like both cards and can't decide which I prefer.

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic for a special birthday!

Hello, I really enjoyed using the Oh So Eclectic stamp set last week.  Such a versatile set and I have so many ideas for this set that I found it hard to put away after my Coffee & Cards sessions.

I needed a birthday card at the weekend for my SU Upline (Mikaela) so I thought I would tweak one of the designs from last week.

I followed the same layout but I decided to use Lemon Lime Twist as the card base so to reflect this, I added more ink through the stencil for a more intense background.

Craftyduckydoodah!, Oh So Eclectic Bundle, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I also added a smaller area of stencilling to the inside along with two die cut elements

Here is the completed card and the envelope that also has a stencilled area.

Both cards side by side - as usual, I can't decide which I prefer!

Unfortunately the card I posted failed to arrive :( so, I have popped another in the post - fingers crossed it will arrive this time!

For details of the products I used for this special card have a look at my earlier post here. The only additional item I used was some A4 Lemon Lime Twist.
