Stampin' Up! Cheers to the Year - in colour!

Hello,  several weeks ago we were using Cheers to the Year to make some very elegant mixed metal cards. I wanted to show that you can quite easily step up a design and change the colours to create a very different look.

The ladies who craft with me regularly know that my favourite colours are blues and teals so I thought I would use these for my card.

I had all the elements for this card created and took them with me to Coffee & Cards sessions but had not quite decided how I would put them together.  I finally got around to assembling a card yesterday!

I used a sponge dauber to add colour to the Year of Cheer Speciality DSP.

A quick wipe over with some tissue restored the silver foil to shiny loveliness.

I used the Winter Wonder TIEF and some Vellum Cardstock to add another layer to my card.  I used a glue dot under the centre of the snowflake as I knew I would be adding something on top - vellum is a bit tricky to stick without the adhesive showing.

Here is a better photo of the background layers.

I cut a few snowflakes from silver foil and embossed the sentiment from Cheers to the Year in Silver on a small Stitched Shape Framelit circle.  I added some Soft Sky ribbon behind for an extra pop of colour.  I love the font on this sentiment (wish my handwriting looked like that)!

Here is the completed card and envelope.

I also used a couple of silver foil snowflakes on the inside of my card and on the back of the envelope (only adhering on the top half).

I received a new duck for my birthday last month - one of my crafty ladies has named her Flora Dora.  Quite an apt name as my Grandma was called Flora and, my favourite gin cocktail just happens to be called Flora Dora too!!

Thank you so much for looking at my Blog today, details of the products I used for this project can be found below.

Happy crafting!

Susan

Stampin' Up! - Swaps for Birmingham!

Hello, as promised, here are the details of the swaps I made for Onstage 2017 held in Birmingham.

#OnStage2017, Craftyduckydoodah!, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, Swaps,

Wrap
5 cm x 17.7 cm
score at 3cm, 5.8 cm, 11.8 cm and 14.6 cm

Punch each end with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.

Fold on each score line.

Box
For some reason I find it easier to use the EPB in inches!
Cardstock 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Line up on the EPB - punch and score at 2" and 3 1/2" on all four sides
This is what you will end up with.

#OnStage2017, Craftyduckydoodah!, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, Swaps,

You need to make little cuts, cutting up to the first score line on two opposite sides.

#OnStage2017, Craftyduckydoodah!, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, Swaps,

Crease and score all score lines.

#OnStage2017, Craftyduckydoodah!, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store, Swaps,

Using Tombow (it really is the best glue ever), apply a small amount on each of the tabs
.
Fold in the tab and line up so that the box is square and press each corner into place until the glue grabs.

Top Tip
If you apply too much glue to the tabs it will take a lot longer to secure - ask me how I know this!

Here is the box glued together.

I popped one of these little Brownies in as a treat for fellow Demos; On Stage is great fun but it is a long, long day!

All you need to do now is to place the wrap around the box and fasten together with some coordinating ribbon.  Take care not to pull the ribbon too tightly as the paper will tear ...

I made lots of these little boxes in the 2017 - 2019 In Colours.

Don't they look pretty - which one do you like best?  (I like them all and can't possibly choose)!  Details of the products I used can be found below.

Thanks to every one who swapped with me, lots of great inspiration and ideas.

I will share some photos of the swaps I received later this week, come back soon to see what I received - lots of inspiration.

Happy crafting!

Stampin' Up! Merry Little Labels - quick & simple

Hello, here are the details for the quick & simple make for this week using Merry Little Labels.

Our background panel has been stamped with the two snowflakes from the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set using Real Red and Old Olive.

I love the sentiment on this stamp - lots of potential to add some bling if you want to!  For this card we added some gold metallic thread  behind the punched sentiment. The Everyday Label Punch makes a perfect background when turned on its side!

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Little Labels, Snowflake Sentiments, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

We also added some stamped snowflakes to the inside of the card and the envelope.

Here is the completed project - quick & simple it most certainly is!

Stampin' Up! Merry Little Labels - SBTD 11/2017

Hello and welcome to another Stampers by the Dozen Blog Hop!  If this is your first stop on the hop, welcome and thanks for joining us.  Or, if you have hopped on from Judi, thanks for hopping along with us!

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Patterns, SBTD Blog Hop, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

It was my turn this month to choose our theme so I went with Gift Packaging - specifically for Christmas!

I decided that I would use a stamp set called Merry Little Labels - partly because I am afraid to say I had not even inked this particular set up yet.

Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Little Labels, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

The Merry Little Labels stamp set is available as a bundle with the Everyday Label Punch = a 10% saving.

These two items are part of the Merry Little Christmas Suite - I am ashamed to say there are a few other items in this suite that I have yet to use, until now that is!

Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Little Labels, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

These are the colours I will be using for my projects.

Sometimes labels are good - excellent even!  With these stamps for example, you can create perfect tags for your Christmas presents.  No hassle, no need to think about what to say, because its already there for you!

Whilst I was away celebrating my Birthday a few weeks ago, I saw this little chap and I knew straight away that I would have to buy him - I knew just the person that would give him a good home!  Each of these little birds are hand crafted by a very talented lady called Elissa Palser you can see more of her work here. There is a tradition, in the UK at least, that when a robin appears it is said that an Angel or a loved one who has passed is nearby.  My friend Kath takes comfort in this and I know lots of others who do too.

Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Little Labels, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I decided that my first project would be something suitable to gift the little robin to Kath so I set about measuring the robin - which is easier said than done!

Here is the box I created, plain and simple and quick to make but not very festive (yet)!

Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Little Labels, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I added a wrap of the black and white striped ribbon (its wired so it will hold its shape) and made a tag using the Celebration Thinlits.  I confess I had completely overlooked these until recently but they will be very useful all year round I think.

I cut two white layers and one striped layer in black.  Then I got out all the lovely embellishments that are available in this suite.  I trimmed some of the needles from the green sprig to make it thinner so it would sit between the two layers neatly.  I also added one of the gorgeous silver baubles - how cute are they!  A few jewels and a tiny bow and the front of the tag was finished.

Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Little Labels, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

For the reverse of the tag I placed the two white layers 'back to back' as it gives it a neater look before stamping and adding a couple of jewels and some simple stamping.
Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Little Labels, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Here is the finished project, the little robbin is safely inside, wrapped in tissue.

Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Little Labels, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Here are the measurements for my box.

Recipe
Base - 20 cm x 28 cm Whisper White Thick Cardstock, scored at 7.5 cm on all four sides.
Lid - 10 cm x 18cm Old Olive Cardstock, scored at 2.5 cm on all four sides.

Assemble using Tombow.  I cut notches in each end piece for the base and the lid.

Top Tip
Use the Tombow sparingly - if you use too much glue it will take longer to 'grab' - ask me how I know this ...

My second project was made for a friend who asked me to make some table gifts for a party she is having over the festive period.  She wanted something small and not too cute.  The theme for her party is black and white and I know she has a bit of a thing for penguins so, when I saw these chocolates in my local supermarket I knew straight away that they were perfect.

I filled one of the Tiny Treaet Boxes with the chocolates and made a 3cm wrap with some DSP.  I made another tag for the top again adding some jewels, metallic silver thread and some black ribbon.

Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Little Labels, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Now all I have to do is make another 11 of them!

Here are both projects together - unfortunately not all the chocolates would fit into the tiny treat box (such a shame)!!

Craftyduckydoodah!, Merry Little Labels, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I hope you enjoyed my projects - I would love you to leave a comment below to let me know what you think of them.  Making gift packaging is really satisfying and even something quite simple can look very impressive underneath the tree.

One of my crafty ladies called round for a coffee whilst I was working on these projects and she asked if we could use Merry Little Labels next week for Coffee & Cards - come back soon to see how different they look in more traditional Christmas colours!

Next on the hop is Tricia and I know she has some fabulous projects for you too.

Details of the products I used for both projects can be found at the end of this post.

Thanks for looking at my blog today, don't forget to leave a comment below!

Happy crafting.
