Stampin' Up! Unicorn Workshop

Hello, just a really quick post from me sharing details of a lovely crafty afternoon today with lots of glitter and sparkles!

At the beginning of September I shared a card I made for my niece - you can see it here - there is also a link to a fabulous tutorial too. Some of my crafty ladies saw the card and asked if they could make one too.

Apologies for the photos - these frames are so difficult to photograph at the best of times but I had to take these very quickly before everyone went home.

We had a monotone unicorn...

We used false eyelashes in a variety of colours and all with added bling for lots of sparkle.  We made matching cards and gift tags too.

These projects are a good example of using what you have to create something special - we used a mix of current and retired items and raided my none SU crafty stash.  The background swirl is from Star of Light - we used the fine-tip glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to sparkle it up. The shadow box frames are as usual, from IKEA.

We all ended up covered in glitter and I think it will be some time before my dining room floor is free from sparkle!

If you would like to join me for my next Workshop using Colorful Seasons, you can find the details here.

Thanks for joining me ladies, see you soon for some more crafty fun.

Stampin' Up! Christmas Quilt for Coffee & Cards

Hello, this week we will be using products from the Christmas Quilt Suite. These lovely coordinating items are quickly becoming a firm favourite with me and my crafty ladies.

I thought I would do just one project for Christmas this week and another one to illustrate that the Christmas Quilt Bundle (= 10% saving) is not just for Christmas.

We will be using all the colours that are on the Designer Series Paper (DSP).

This week we will be stamping, embossing, die cutting and doing lots of paper piecing!  You will also be able to choose which DSP you would like to use for the front of our first project.

Here are the projects we will be making.

Stampin' Up! Hang Your Stocking - stepped up

Hello, after another hectic week of crafting (and life) here are the details of the second project using the Hang Your Stocking stamp set.

When I came to edit my photos for this post I discovered the application I usually use no longer allows you to use it for free :(  Please bear with me whilst I experiment with different packages to edit my photos.

For this project we used the larger stocking in this set and added additional stamped and die cut elements to the top, heel and toe.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Hang Your Stocking, September 2017 Coffee & Cards Project, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

We used some of the lovely sparkly mini tinsel trim that an be found on page 21 of the Autumn / Winter Catalogue.  Its great for tying bows and would look lovely around a parcel and, the best thing is it doesn't shed!!

All my crafty ladies have enjoyed using the Cable Knit TIEF this week too - so useful for adding texture to a background and not just for Christmas!

Here is the completed card and envelope.  I think my favourite part of this project has to be the stunning pine boughs on the inside and envelope.

Our first project this week also used Hang Your Stocking.  I confess I was not completely happy with my sample project after looking at it again so I took the opportunity to tweak it a little during Coffee & Cards sessions.

This is the original ...

I would love for you to leave a comment below to let me know which you prefer or if you have any ideas/suggestions on how to improve the design.

Next week for Coffee & Cards I will be joined by the lovely Karen.  Karen was a former 'duckling' who moved out of the area - she is visiting Huntingdon next week and will be joining us once again on Monday for a crafty fix.  Karen has requested that we use the Quilted Christmas Suite; I will post details of the projects for next week shortly.

You can find details of the products I used for this project below.

Hope you have a crafty weekend.

Stampin' Up Colourful Seasons - even more leaves!

Hello, I promised last week that I would share the details of what I did with all the lovely leaves I had leftover after the Stamper's by the Dozen blog hop project using the Colourful Seasons bundle.  So, here is what I did ...

I have had this wicker wreath in my craftroom for quite some time - I was waiting for some inspiration to strike which, thankfully, it did!

I spent ages laying the leaves on the wreath this way and that way, changing them around until I was happy.  I then used lots of mini glue dots to attach the leaves.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Colorful Seasons, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I added some of the lovely Old Olive Stitched Edge Ribbon - this whisper white ribbon with coloured stitching on both edges just added a little something extra without detracting for the colourful leaves.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Colorful Seasons, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Here is the finished wreath.

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Colorful Seasons, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I sat looking at the wreath and was really pleased with it but could not help thinking it need a little something extra.

So I thought I would add some of the lovely copper foil leaves that I used on my project for the blog hope (you can see it here).

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Craftyduckydoodah!, Colorful Seasons, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

The wreath is now hanging proudly in my craftroom - I will not be parting with it!

I did mention that I had been carried away making these leaves didn't I?  Well, even after my hop project and decorating this wreath, I still had some left!  So, I used the remaining leaves for my September customer thank you cards.  I will share details shortly.

Everyone who has received one so far this month have loved them and I have been persuaded to offer these projects for a Workshop in October.  We will be recreating this wreath, my blog hop project and customer thank you cards.  If you would like to come along, keep an eye on my facebook page for details as I am sure that places will fill up quickly.

Thanks for looking at my blog, come back soon so you don't miss anything!

You can find details of how I created the leaves and the products I used here.

Happy crafting!

Stampin' Up! Hang Your Stocking - quick & simple

Hello, here are the details of our first project this week us the Hang Your Stocking stamp set - we are starting to get organised for Christmas!!

Both projects this week combine elements from two different stamp and Framelits sets.

The Hang Your Stocking stamp set is a two step stamp set that allows you to create images in any colour you want.  The Coordinating Christmas Stockings Thinlets contains 17 dies - you could have a whole mantelpiece full of stockings if you wanted!

The Christmas Pines stamp set contains 22 stamps and is also a two step stamp set.  The pine needle stamps look very realistic when you use two colours and there is a really pretty background stamp in this set too.

The Cable Knit TIEF adds lots of dimension, we added a few die cut elements from the Pretty Pines Thinlets.

A pretty little bow cut from Gold Glimmer Paper adds a bit of sparkle.  The sentiment is from a retired stamp set.

Here is the completed card and envelope.  We used two green inks and the gorgeous pine bough stamp to decorate the inside of the card and the envelope. The pine bough stamp is very useful for covering little splotches of ink as we found out this morning - no names mentioned!!

Hope you can join me for some crafty fun soon!

Stampin' Up! Hang Your Stocking for Coffee & Cards

Hello, this week we will be using a lovely stamp set called Hang Your Stocking for our Coffee & Cards projects.

This lovely stamp set launched last year and we used it for a couple of Coffee & Cards projects - I was so pleased it survived for another year.

These stamps and matching Framelits allow you to create a a mantelpiece full of stockings in a variety of styles.

This week we will be doing lots of stamping and die cutting and embossing.  We will be using traditional Christmas colours too.

Here are the projects we will be making.

Stampin' Up Colorful Seasons - SBTD 9/2017

Hello, welcome to the second Stampers by the Dozen Blog Hop!

Our theme this month is trees - I decided to use one of the most versatile bundles in the Annual Catalogue - Colorful Seasons.  This particular bundle covers all four seasons and is excellent value for money with 24 stamps and 17 dies to choose from!

If you have a look at one of my posts from earlier this week you will see I got a little bit carried away making lots of lovely leaves.

Colorful Seasons, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I needed a card recently for two lovely people who have just bought the most amazing house so I thought I would use some of the leaves.

My card started with the sentiment - not how I usually start a card but this particular sentiment seemed so apt.

I embossed it with some Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder.

Colorful Seasons, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Then I started to think about how the leaves in my garden have started to fall and I had an idea!

Step 1
I die cut two leaves from the Whisper White card layer and adhered to my WW card base using some Foam Adhesive Strips.

Colorful Seasons, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Step 2
Using Tombow, I carefully placed the leaves through the aperture and adhered to the card base.  If you stopped at this point you would have a really quick and simple card.

Colorful Seasons, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Step 3
I added another three leaves to the top of my panel, overlapping the apertures slightly to add depth and dimension.

Colorful Seasons, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Step 4
Again, I could have left the card at this point and I would have been happy with it but I decided it needed a little something extra.

I used another die from this bundle of a skeleton leaf and some of the gorgeous Copper Foil Sheets.

I pressed the leaves against the palm of my hand with my fingers to add some dimension.

Colorful Seasons, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Step 5
I placed the copper leaves at an angle so that you could still see the gorgeous colours on the leaves underneath. I used a mini glue dot behind the part of the leaf where the stalk joins - hopefully you can see the dimension and the shadows this helps to create?

Colorful Seasons, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

I decorated the inside of the card with some leaves too (I made lots).

Colorful Seasons, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

My card will have to go in the post as I am unable to hand deliver it so I added just one of the leaf on the back of the envelope, leaving the stalk unattached for ease of opening.

Colorful Seasons, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

Here is the completed card and envelope.

Colorful Seasons, Craftyduckydoodah!, SBTD Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator Susan Simpson, Supplies available 24/7 from my online store,

As I mentioned above, this card is for two lovely people called Rod and Noreen. They have just moved into a former Lock Keepers cottage at Five Rise Locks in Bingley (West Yorkshire, UK).  I used to visit the locks at Bingley when my children were younger, especially at this time of year when the leaves start to fall - you are never too old for a swish amongst the leaves!  I hope they will be very, very happy in their new home.

I still had lots of leaves left so I decided to make use of them, come back soon to see what I made!

Details of the products I used for this project can be found below.

I hope you enjoyed this project - it was great fun to make my own pile of leaves even though I can't swish through them!

Next in the hop is Tricia who has a great project to share with you.

If you get lost along the way here is a list of participants in the hop.

Susan Simpson - you are here!
