Stampin' Up! Daisy Delight - its a frameup!

Hello, I had a bit of a play at last weekend with Daisy Delight - I ended up making a couple of flowers with this fabulous stamp and punch bundle.

In true Libran fashion, I could not decide which flower I preferred so I stopped when I had made just two flowers - it was just too warm for me!

I took them with me to my Monday morning Coffee & Cards session to canvas some opinions - the answer was a resounding 'the one on the right'!

Now I faffed around with the centre of my flowers snipping into a long pieces of cards almost 100 times for each flower.

Then I had a flash of inspiration - I have been trying to sort out my craft room in an attempt to de-clutter before an impending house move and I came across something wonderful!!

An old Cuttlebug die that cuts a strip of card into a fringe - I have not used it for several years.  Originally I made Chrysanthemums with it but as I adore Gerberas so much (I had orange ones as my wedding flowers 7 years ago), I thought I would have a go at making some out of coloured card.

I picked a few colours and got to work - I deliberately stuck to actual flower colours rather than my usual blues and teals!

After stamping and punching the daisies in the same colours of ink and cardstock I ended up with these.

I sat in the garden under the shade of what is going to be a very heavily laden plum tree with an icy glass of lemonade to assemble my flowers.

Separating all the individual pieces for the centre of the flowers was well worth the effort - don't they look lovely?

Now all I had to do was think of something to do with them.  Then I saw this idea to pop them into a picture frame on the blog of a lady called Jill Chapman (you can see the picture she made here) and thought why not!

Even better, I have several shadow box frames that I keep in stock for workshops and one to one sessions as my picture workshops are always very popular.  Now all I had to do was make a decision on which colour flower went where...

I used a piece of embossed 12 x 12 cardstock (cut to size) as my background.

I spent ages deciding which colour should go where and then, after some careful measuring, I finally decided on this layout ...

Here is the finished frame - as always, so difficult to photograph something behind glass!

I am gifting this to a lovely lady called Karen who is a member of my little team of ducklings.  She is moving to Norfolk at the weekend - we will certainly miss her at Coffee and Cards sessions, Monday was the last time (for now) that she will be able to join us.  I am sure she will be back to visit and hope that there will be a chance for Karen to join us again soon.  There is also the possibility of me visiting Norfolk, it is not too far away for a crafty workshop of two once she settles in!

Karen will have a dedicated craft room in her new house so this should look lovely on the wall - hopefully it will remind her of all her Coffee & Cards friends back in Godmanchester.

As a special treat (we don't have cake every week but I'm sure we could be persuaded), Karen very kindly bought us all cake to have with our coffees.

Karen, I hope the move goes to plan and that you are able to unpack your crafty stash soon!

Now all I need to do is make one of these for myself! Susan xx

  1. Hi Susan, your project is gorgeous! I don't own the daisy delight yet, but this might encourage me to get it now. On another note, where in Norfolk is your friend Karen moving to? I'm in Norfolk and she might like to meet up with other demos in my area, thanks.
