Stamin' Up! Painted Harvest for a special birthday!

Hello, anyone who knows me will tell you that I am notoriously bad at remembering birthdays.  If you ask my friend Kath for instance, she will tell you that if you want any chance of receiving a card from me on your birthday, you have to remind me - constantly!

Kath has been reminding for several weeks now that she will be celebrating a rather special birthday on the 24th August - now she has seen her card I can share it with you.

One of my favourites from the upcoming Autumn / Winter catalogue has to be Painted Harvest.  I have used it several times already.

Such lovely two step images, the leaves will be useful for lots of different projects too.

I had this idea in my head for a card but was not sure what the technique was called.  I usually have a quick look on Pinterest before starting a special project but, in this instance it was tricky to do a search when you don't know what you are looking for!

So, I just got on with it!

I used the Large Letter dies to cut the word 'friend' from some thick Whisper White card stock.  I then placed the letters back into the card and stamped the sunflowers and leaves.  Removing the letters once again, I mounted the panel onto some Early Espresso card stock.  I used the fabulous Mini Dimensionals to adhere the letters back onto the card panel - sort of like a child's jigsaw!

Hopefully you can see the dimension of the photo below clearly!

As I mentioned above, Kath was celebrating a special birthday so, I couldn't leave the card as it was could I?  I decided that the inside needed something extra special too!

I die cut the relevant numbers (Kath, I am so sorry!) and stamped a sunflower across them.  I stamped some leaves and cut them out with the coordinating punch.  I used the Number of Years stamp set for the sentiment.

An additional sunflower finished off the inside!

I was really pleased with how the card turned out; I was even impressed that it had worked first time around just as I had imagined it!  Then I realised I would need an envelope for such a large card.  Of course, I didn't have anything suitable - no problem I thought, I will make one!  The next problem was finding some paper big enough to make it with.  When I pre ordered this gorgeous stamp set I also purchased the matching Designer Series Papaer.  I confess I am something of a DSP hoarder and don't use it very often; I do however like to look at it!

Look at the gorgeous colours in these stunning Designer Series Papers - lovely! With no other option, I cut into my paper (sigh) to make and envelope with my Envelope Punch Board.

A few minutes later and it was done!  Here is the completed card and envelope.
